Earlier yesterday, Telstra, one of Australia’s major cellular providers suffered from a widespread iMessage and FaceTime outage.
They posted on Twitter:
Earlier today some customers experienced a disruption to Apple iMessage and FaceTime services. We worked with Apple to resolve this issue. Services are now being progressively being restored. We apologise for any inconvenience this caused.
Since then, Telstra has resolved the issue and service has been restored. Oddly though, during the outage, it was only affecting Apple’s services. The outage was primary affecting the eastern coast of Australia but some users in Perth were also reporting issues with the services.
It is still unclear what was causing the issue but thankfully the problem was fixed. Apple has yet to comment on the outage and its unlikely they will.
